How these examples
were made.
This page contains the answer key. The classifications refer to the content shown, not the code used to display it. “Human” means the source photograph or words were created by a human; ordinary digitization does not count as generative AI. “A mix” means the shown item combines human-origin content and newly generated AI content.
1 · Ceramic cup image · AI
Created specifically for this workshop on 21 October 2026 using the built-in OpenAI image generation tool. The fictional product was not photographed. The generated PNG was converted to JPEG for website delivery; that file-format conversion does not change its origin.
Generation prompt: “Use case: product-mockup. Asset type: one quiz sample for an AI literacy workshop, not a webpage screenshot. Generate a photorealistic commercial product photograph of a single pale sage-green ceramic espresso cup and matching saucer on a warm cream stone counter, soft directional window light, tiny realistic imperfections in the ceramic glaze, a slight coffee stain at the rim, subtle shadows, quiet cafe background out of focus. Tight square composition, professional believable photography, no people, no brand, no lettering, no watermark. This is a fictional product for a classroom exercise.”
2 · Earthrise · Human
NASA image AS08-14-2383, captured during Apollo 8 on 24 December 1968. Photo credit: NASA / William Anders. The local file is NASA’s medium JPEG derivative of the historical photograph, with no generative AI edit made for this workshop.

Used for an educational discussion. This activity is not affiliated with or endorsed by NASA. NASA insignia are not used as site branding.
3 · Customer email · AI
New text written by the AI assistant during website creation. Creative brief: write a concise, plausible customer care email apologizing for a late order, claiming a delivery-fee refund and promising a 3–5 business day processing time. Alex, the order and refund are fictional. The statement has not been verified against a real customer record.
4 · Business quotation · Human
Adam Smith, An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, first published in 1776, Book I, Chapter II, “Of the Principle which gives Occasion to the Division of Labour.” The quoted passage is public-domain source material; the page displays a transcription, not a newly AI-authored paraphrase.
Project Gutenberg edition and text
5 · Campaign concept · A mix
Uses the same human-origin NASA photograph as round 2. The caption—“A new perspective. A better tomorrow. Build a business worthy of this planet.”—was newly written by the AI assistant for a fictional campaign mockup and placed beneath the photograph in the webpage. No environmental performance claim has been substantiated. The mockup is an educational example, not a real advertisement or NASA endorsement.
Here, “a mix” describes the combination of human-created source imagery and new AI-written copy. It does not claim that a human editor revised the AI text.
6 · Chatbot proposal · AI
New text written by the AI assistant for this activity. Creative brief: write a deliberately flawed recommendation to replace all customer support staff with AI next month, using unsupported 80% cost reduction and 40% satisfaction claims, an absolute error-elimination claim, and no pilot. These numbers are invented for critical discussion and must not be presented as research findings.
Limits of the exercise
Source records establish these particular examples’ origins. They do not establish a method for identifying arbitrary AI content by looking at it. The small, intentionally selected sample is not a benchmark of detector accuracy or student ability. The website, activity text and facilitator notes were prepared with AI assistance.
